Introduction
Kenneth Sebastian is an Indian stand-up comedian, actor, improviser, and musician with a unique blend of comedy, music, and storytelling in his works. Early Life & Family
Kenny was born on 31st December 1990. Born and brought up in Bangalore by Malayali parents, he had a passion for arts from his early days. He completed his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya Malleswaram in Bengaluru, however, he chose to veer away from conventional career paths and instead pursued his passion for the arts. Kenny Sebastian went on to study Visual Arts at Chitrakala Parishath, Karnataka.
Kenny was driven from a young age. He reflects this in his podcast, ‘Simple Ken’ by saying his parents were supportive of his pursuit in comedy as he had proved to earn a living very young by taking on graphic designing/video editing jobs as a freelancer.
It was during his college days that Kenny discovered the local comedy open mic scene in Bangalore and started performing standup comedy.
Kenny has often tried keeping his private life from the public eye. After teasing his marriage in one of his podcast episodes, he finally tied the knot in the early part of 2022. Kenny married his then-girlfriend Tracy Alison on 16th January in Goa and the couple can now be seen in Kenny’s vlogs on his youtube channel.
Stand-Up Comedy & Career
Kenny was a pioneer in popularizing stand-up in India. Belonging to the 3rd generation of modern stand-ups from India, he was one of the first to put YouTube to good use by releasing an hour-long special, ‘Journey to the Center of my Brain’ on his youtube channel in 2014. His first special focuses on him navigating the world as a 23-year-old Malayali after a breakup. The special is a mix of conventional stand-up with a mix of music and humor and was probably the last time we’d get to see him with long hair.
He began performing in Bangalore and later on moved to Mumbai for his stand-up comedy career. He initially gained popularity by writing songs from tweets, popularly known as #KennySing4Me. He began creating sketches with his friends, Kanan Gill and Abhish Mathew. He even had a comic strip of his own, ‘Ken and Chip.’ His rise to fame began when he started posting stand-up comedy videos on youtube during 2015-2016.
He’s created a major impact in the standup comedy scene in India and is highly regarded for his quick wit & observational humor. His bits on middle-class families, Kendra Vidyalaya, and dating has propelled his content to a massive fan base spread across all ages in India.
‘Chai Time with Kenny’ is one of his most popular works which provided him a platform to engage with his audience in a casual and conversational manner while sipping a cup of tea. The series features Kenny sitting in a cozy setting, often accompanied by his guitar, as he shares anecdotes, musings, and personal stories. Kenny explores a wide range of topics from relationships and societal observations to personal experiences.
Kenny bagged himself a special on Amazon Prime in the year 2017 with ‘Don’t be that Guy’ and later found himself doing a special for Netflix in 2020 with ‘The Most Interesting Person in the Room’ as well. Currently, he’s touring with his latest special, ‘Professor of Tomfoolery’ of which, the Kerala tour was produced by Comedy Lounge at Kochi, Kottayam, and Calicut.

Other Works
In addition to his comedy prowess, Kenny Sebastian is a talented musician. He seamlessly integrates music into his performances, showcasing his skills as a singer, guitarist, and pianist through which he adds another layer of depth to his shows. He has an album out for his web series ‘Die Trying’ which is out on Amazon Prime and has even released a single titled, ‘Wake up in the Morning’ in 2020.
Kenny also had his own travel show with Abhish Mathew called, ‘Breezer Vivid’ during which the duo traveled around the world taking part in activities such as skydiving, hitchhiking, surfing, etc. As expected, we got the most quirky version of themselves on the show which is available on Kenny’s YouTube channel.
