Shreeja Chaturvedi

Shreeja Chaturvedi is a stand-up comedian, writer, and YouTuber based in Mumbai, known across the Indian comedy circuit for her deadpan delivery and a dry, unhurried comic style. Born in Lucknow and raised largely in Mumbai, Shreeja studied financial markets and worked in business development before her boss — recognising her natural sense of humour — encouraged her to pursue comedy writing seriously. She took the leap, working her way through the city’s open mic circuit, where she won her very first open mic on a night famously full of comedians bombing on stage.

Her breakthrough came on Comicstaan Season 2, where she was mentored by some of Indian comedy’s biggest names and made it to the show’s Top 10, earning a reputation early on as the competition’s “deadpan queen.” Since then, Shreeja has built a writing career to match her stand-up — penning material for shows including Son of Abish, Stand Up Shorts, and Comedy Premium League, and appearing as an actor in the streaming series Pushpavalli and LOL — Hasse Toh Phasse.

Shreeja’s comedy draws its strength from precise, often understated writing — she’s spoken about how nothing replaces the discipline of testing material in front of a fresh open mic crowd night after night until a joke actually works. Her viral sets, including “Awful Boys” and “Superiority Complex,” showcase her signature move: taking a mundane, instantly recognisable situation and stretching it, deadpan, until the room can’t help but laugh at how accurately she’s nailed it. Her solo touring show Superiority Complex has played to audiences across Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Chandigarh.

With a fanbase that spans YouTube, live comedy clubs, and college festivals, Shreeja Chaturvedi has become one of the names that defines what a newer generation of Indian stand-up sounds like — quieter than the loudest voices in the room, but unmistakably one of the sharpest.
